The isolation is aesthetic, proxemic, the language in its complexity is flattened, obstructed, gagged in the literal sense. With only the eyes facing masked faces, again and again surprised by a desolate, silent city. Getting aware about the encumbrance of our one’s own body, of one’s own breathing, while physicality of others brings in tangible, repelling forces.
Time slows down, through unfilled spaces that now appear enormous, and the speed of daily life that inevitably changes.
All together overwhelmed by a microscopic threat, all frightened under the very same sky by an intimidation towards the human race that only an alien invasion is able to embody.
A dystopian panorama that imposes stillness and reflection, comparing this life to the one we had before, and suggesting the alternative of a more human measure, and the paradox is ruthlessly exposed. Acknowledging the dizziness of being one and everyone at the very same time.
Shoot in Milan, between March and May of 2020.
